Early Years Teacher

About this Role

We are a supportive yet ambitious Trust who will work with you to build your skills and knowledge to ensure you feel confident and empowered as an educator. We ensure our teachers receive an excellent induction, providing the tools, resources and development to be an outstanding Early Years practitioner.

Maybe you hold EYTS or EYPS and are working in a nursery setting but looking for a new challenge?  Do you hold a degree in Early Years Education with QTS? Or perhaps you have completed an Early Childhood Studies degree followed by EYPS, EYTS or a PGCE?  If you believe, as we do, that a strong foundation in the Early Years is crucial for a child’s success throughout their education and beyond, then we would love to hear from you.

About the Trust:

Preston Hedges Trust offers the absolute best opportunities to all our children in each of our schools. Our highly skilled, energetic, and creative teaching staff make sure we constantly drive forward standards and deliver continuous improvement across all our schools – regardless of where they are on their individual journeys.  In 2023, the Trust collected two prestigious national education awards – including being named the country’s best Academy Trust – recognising our exceptional work in outstanding, good, new, and improving schools. We were awarded Best Small Trust and the blue ribband Best Multi Academy Trust awards at the Multi Academy Trust Association Awards in London in March 2023.

The Roles:
Your role will be to ensure that the children you work with are happy, safe, and engaged with creative and innovative learning opportunities. You will support and enable them to reach their full potential socially, emotionally, physically and academically, building confident and resilient young people.

The successful candidates will be excited to master and implement our unique curriculum, to understand our approach to learning, teaching and pedagogy and to work collaboratively with colleagues who are passionate about providing all our children with the best learning experiences possible.

We have Early Years opportunities in each of our five primary schools. Candidates will be recruited to the Trust. Our school leaders will then work together to identify the school and opportunity that will best suit you.

What we can offer:

  • A comprehensive induction programme at both Trust and school levels
  • An opportunity to learn from others at schools rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted
  • A broad range of continuous professional development at both Trust and school levels, including access to the National College online training platform
  • Opportunities to progress your career through increased responsibilities or specialism, enabling you to make a difference to children beyond your immediate class, year group or school
  • An environment that places wellbeing at the heart of everything we do, with staff having access to a comprehensive wellbeing package including the Schools Advisory Service, which offers counselling, GP helpline, mindfulness, nurse support, physiotherapy and more.
  • Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Our Approach:
As a Trust we recruit our teaching staff centrally. This means that when you apply for the role of Early Years Teacher, we will consider you against all the opportunities we have in our five schools across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. We will ask you to indicate if you have a preference to be based in one of our Northamptonshire schools, our Milton Keynes school or if you are happy to be considered for both locations.

On this occasion, we will be inviting prospective candidates to have a tour of Preston Hedges Primary School. Interviews will also be conducted at this school.

If you are successful, you will be given a contract to work for Preston Hedges Trust. Our Executive team will then work together to identify the best fit for you as an individual and the school. You will receive confirmation of the school you have been allocated to by June 2024.

Our Commitment :
Preston Hedges Trust is committed to safeguarding, safer recruitment and promoting the welfare of pupils. Our comprehensive recruitment and selection processes aim to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. Successful candidates are subject to rigorous pre-employment checks.

We are equally committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity. We aim for our workforce to be representative of society and that each employee feels respected and able to give their best. We are committed to providing equality and fairness in our recruitment and employment practices and not to discriminate on any grounds. We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.
