Recruiting for Trustees

Why become involved?

You share our commitment to ensuring every child has an extraordinary education and the best possible start in life. As a Trustee, you want to help make sure local schools retain their distinct character, whilst also supporting local families and communities. Experience in the education sector is not required, but familiarity with school governance is highly valued.

What is a Trustee:

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Help to establish the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the Trust
  • Hold the leaders and Principals to account for the educational performance of the organisation and the performance management of staff.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the organisation making sure money is well spent.
  • Ensuring the voices of stakeholders (pupils, parents, staff, local community) are heard.

Trustees meet approximately six times a year as a board; they are also required to sit on one or more committees of the board which meet about three times a year.  These meetings generally take place in term time both face to face and via Microsoft Teams.

Trustees are supported by the Trust Governance Professional and can participate in further training opportunities while support for the role is provided through the CST (cstuk.org.uk) and external providers.

It is important that Trustees follow  The Seven Principles of Public Life – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and are aware of the principles of ethical leadership.
